Workstation 4
Because of the modular architecture, the HIPAX Workstation 4 medical imaging software can be easily adapted to different environments depending on the demands. It includes all functions of a capable DICOM workstation. Furthermore, the HIPAX Workstation 4 provides different special functions for image acquisition. Using the HIPAX interfaces to adopt images directly from DR and CR systems, X-ray digitizers and document scanners, video sources and CT screens, nearly all analog devices can be connected to the DICOM world. Other special features of the HIPAX Workstation 4 are the functions; Teleconferencing for the common image processing of remote physicians, and Stitching to merge several single images to one.

Please find here a review of the HIPAX Workstation 4 modules for image acquisition, viewing, archiving, processing, and communication. A more detailed description is given in a PDF file.
HIPAX is suitable for use in; Cardiology, Dentistry, Dermatology, Gynecology, Internal, Medicine, Orthopaedy, Neurology, Pathology, Radiology, Radiotherapy and Animal Health
The single modules of the HIPAX Workstation 4 can be put together to expert solutions described on the page HIPAX in practice.
WS 4 Base Modules
The Base Modules are part of each HIPAX Workstation 4 installation
- WS 4 Base Module Standard: Patient image administration (Paradox database), hanging protocol, image processing including measurements and series processing, Windows print. All modules listed below can be added.
- WS 4 Base Module "light": Patient image administration (Paradox database), image processing with restricted functions, Windows print. The module DICOM Communication can be added.
WS 4 Modules for Direct Image Acquisition
- WS 4 CR Connection: Direct image adoption from CR systems of different manufacturers, e.g. iCRco, Kodak POC (Orex), etc. 16 Bit filters for image optimization.
- WS 4 DR Connection: Direct image adoption from DR systems from different manufacturers, e.g. Varian, Xcan etc. 16 Bit filters for image optimization.
- WS 4 VIDAR: Driving a VIDAR X-ray digitizer directly.
- WS 4 TWAIN/Scan: Connecting an X-ray digitizer or document scanner via TWAIN.
- WS 4 Video: Image grabbing from analogous devices with video plug, e.g. ultrasound, endoscopy, etc. using frame grabbers with DirectShow driver (e.g. DFG/SV1) or Matrox Morphis MOR/2VD for standard Video signals, or using the Matrox frame grabbers Solios XA/Xe or Meteor II Multi Channel for non-standard video signals.
- WS 4 Hi-Line: Image adoption from analogous CTs without video plug via TWAIN using a Foresight frame grabber.
WS 4 Workflow Modules
- WS 4 DICOM Worklist SCU: Worklist management to adopt worklists from a DICOM Worklist SCU server. As a result, patient data has not to be entered manually.
- WS 4 Autorouting: Automatic forwarding of images received from the modalities via DICOM communication to a pre-defined DICOM destination.
WS 4 Modules for Communication
- WS 4 DICOM Communication: DICOM Send, -Storage, -Query, optionally encryption and lossless or lossy compression (factor 3 to 20) for image transmission to remote HIPAX Workstations.
- WS 4 DICOM Email: Sending and receiving images via Email, independent of the manufacturer fulfilling the DICOM standard. PGP encryption, Bzip compression by factor 2.
- WS 4 ISDN Communication: Sending and receiving images using CAPI ISDN even to pre-defined times. Encryption and compression.
- WS 4 Telekonference Client: Image conferencing for up to 16 remote participants. Access to a Telekonference Server required.
WS 4 Modules for Image Display and Evaluation
- WS 4 Presentation: Creating and demonstrating presentations, e.g. via video projector. For radiological discussions, lectures, or conferences.
- WS 4 Multimonitor: Connection of up to 4 monitors to 1 PC. Distributing the images on the different screens.
- WS 4 Stitching: Combining two images to one.
- WS 4 Database Manager: Keywords can be added to single images or patients. The keywords then are available for an evaluation.
WS 4 Modules for Image Output
- WS 4 Local Offline Archive: Storing images manually on digital disks (CD, DVD). To save memory, archived images are deleted from the hard disk automatically. The patient data and the thumbnails remain on the hard disk. DVD-writer program is included.
- WS 4 Patient CD: Writes images and documents of a patient on CD to be handed out to the patient. The CD contains a simple HIPAX viewer, which allows a physician to view the images on any PC. DICOMDIR CDs can be written, e.g. with cardiac sequences. DVD-writer program included.
- WS 4 CD/DVD Robot: Connecting the CD/DVD Robot Primera Disc Publisher to write and print CDs and DVDs automatically (Extensions for the modules Patient CD and/or Archiving).
- WS 4 DICOM Print (SCU): Printing medical images on DICOM compatible wet or dry printers, e.g. to make X-ray films.
Dongle
The HIPAX Software Workstation 4 can be licensed using an LPT or USB dongle. For single user workstations each HIPAX Workstation is licensed by an own dongle. Using a HIPAX netzwork dongle, several HIPAX Workstations within a network can be licensed using the same dongle. The HIPAX Workstation 4 can then be installed on all PCs of the network. The network dongle controls the number of HIPAX licenses used at the same time.
