OsteoGram
Bone Density Measurement System
The OsteoGram provides accurate and precise measurement of Bone Mineral Density (BMD) of middle phalanges by using radiographic absorptiometry (RA) technology.
The OsteoGram uses standard x-ray equipment to take two hand x-rays, together with an aluminum reference wedge, from which the BMD and corresponding T and Z scores are obtained from normative data bases.
The processed radiographs are digitized with a suitable scanner e.g. a VIDAR Sierra digitizer.
A computer analysis of the Optical Density is carried out to obtain the BMD measurement results.
The OsteoGram provides a low cost, easy to use solution with an accuracy error of 4-5% and a precision error of <1% which is comparable to DXA.
In addition to its performance, the OsteoGram offers other advantages:
- Convenience, the OsteoGram uses standard X-ray equipment.
